
The registered unemployed towards 31.08.2002 are 1431 - 28,15% The level of the unemployment in Simeonovgrad for the last years has been: 1998 - 14,08 % from the active population in the municipality; 1999 - 18,08 %; 2000 - 22,79 %. There is a tendency, typical for the region as a whole, of occupying a considerable relative share /82%/ by the registered unemployed people without having the right to get compensation and social support money against the total number of registered people.
The number of the registered unemployed women in the Municipality Simeonovgrad is high. The number of the unemployed women in work-age is preserved high.

It is obvious that the group of the registered unemployed people with secondary and lower education is the biggest in number. The low educational qualification of the unemployed in this group makes their labour market introduction difficult and because of this they appear to be a basic part of the category of people forming the "inert unemployment" group / "continuous unemployment"/. These are unemployed people without qualification incompetitive on the labour market. Mainly people from the minorities are included in it as well as the category of the socially "weak" families which turns to be even a more difficult problem to solve.
- working out of a municipal strategy for employment;
- developing new systems, forms and structures for professional education and getting new qualification;
- implementation of projects with strictly chosen beneficiaries, part of the Regional employment programme, sponsored by the fund "PKB";
- developing specialized programmes for the risky groups on the labour market;
- executing the requirements in the programmes, stimulating employment and measures for avoiding the unemployment;
- activating the participation of the Municipality in observing and increasing the number of the employed in the private firms and the municipal enterprises by stimulating them through preferential terms /using municipal land at a lowered rent, using municipal residential places and buildings/;
- harmonizing the activities of all partners on the labour market - employees, employers and trade unions for the solving of the labour market problems concerning the opening of new work places and having some preferences;
- working out of a specialized informational system for: highly- qualified specialists, rarely met professions and risky groups;
- strengthening the role of the labour mediators, improving the quality and broadening the range of the offered mediating and consulting services;
- total assimilation of the given quotas for the municipality under the National programme for temporary employment and the programme - winter;
"KNSB" - with a representative Peicho Staykov and "KT Podkrepa" - with a representative Zhivko Yanev.
